About This Place

Located in the charming village of Cercedilla, just a stone's throw from Madrid, Chivo Loco (literally "The Mad Goat") stands as a culinary gem that marries traditional Spanish flavors with warm hospitality. Nestled at C. de la Pontezuela, 21, 28470 Cercedilla, Madrid, Spain, this delightful restaurant has quickly carved a niche in the hearts of locals and visitors alike.

What brings people to Chivo Loco is not just the picturesque landscape surrounding it, but also the promise of excellent homemade food that comforts the soul. Patrons have praised the friendly service—testament to the restaurant's commitment to making each guest feel at home. As Daniel Fabre aptly puts it, the service here is “inmejorable”, with a staff that is both charming and efficient.

Food enthusiasts will revel in a menu that serves traditional Spanish tapas and hearty main dishes that remind you of family gatherings. The ham croquettes are a must-try, offering a delightful crunch that leads to a savory filling, while the grilled prawns and garlic lamb sweetbreads have been raved about for their exquisite flavor profile. Moreover, for those looking to warm up on a cold day, the caldo (broth) was described as “riquísimo”, making it an ideal choice where comfort food reigns supreme.

While some dishes may be reminiscent of age-old recipes, Chivo Loco embraces a fresh leadership under Chef Sergio, who brings a renewed passion to this beloved "meson." This evolution has not compromised the authentic spirit that has made it popular over the years. Diners can expect the classic chuletillas and entrecot to be prepared with an eye for detail, complementing the inviting atmosphere of the restaurant.

In addition to the food, patrons have enjoyed the cozy terrace, ideal for soaking up the sun without the discomfort of excessive heat. Jennifer Wilson fondly recalls the cocido and impeccable service that left her satisfied and eager for a return visit.

In conclusion, Chivo Loco emerges as a standout choice in Cercedilla—a restaurant that not only serves exceptional Spanish cuisine but also embodies the essence of hospitality. Whether you’re craving a delicious meal after a day of hiking or just looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a long lunch, this charming venue promises a memorable experience. With all that it offers, including friendly pricing and an enticing menu, it’s no wonder that locals and visitors alike are singing its praises.

A new leader for a traditional venue. In Cercedilla, a preferred destination for Madrid´s population looking for fresh air, pure nature, snow during Winter or a cool place where to spend the never-ending sweltering afternoons during Madrid´s Summer. At this famous village you can find a long lasting "meson" (a kind of more informal, popular restaurant in Spain. Which does not mean low quality food) well known for locals and visitors, El Chivo Loco (literally The Mad Goat ;-) ) As said above, leadership has changed lately but only to keep the very good "tapas" and hospitality that are familiar for the old customers. Sergio and his Team make possible for them to still ejoy the famous ham croquettes, the excellent garlic lamb sweetbreads, the tasty grilled prawns or the ultra-tender rib eye of calf (these are only a few among my favorite dishes) that they (we) are used to. All of them served in a typical Spanish place between a simple bar and a formal restaurant named "meson". This particular one keeps the popular atmosphere from their first years, improved by Segio´s care on small details focused on patron´s comfort. Regarding staff and customer care, what is said above about the food applies to waiters and managers: kind and cool attention, you can feel they are honestly worried about you feeling like at home. In summary, this choice is a masterstroke if you are looking for high quality Spanish food and "tapas" served with the traditional Spanish hospitality at a small village with very nice landscapes within one hour (by train, 45 min. if you drive) from the capital of Spain. Believe me, several years acting as a successful Gastro-Guide in Madrid support this tip: highly recommended (you can check my reviews in Trip Advisor's "Spanish Tapas Madrid" page)

Bastante bien en relación calidad-precio. A destacar las sardinas, que las tenían fuera de carta. La terraza es agradable, no hace mucho calor porque no le da demasiado el sol. El personal fue muy amable.

A really great cocido an wonderful service. Good prices too .
